FPD seeks funds for new K-9

The members of the Florence Police Department strive to provide a high level of service to the residents and business owners of the city. The police department is continuously looking to improve its level of training along with the purchasing of equipment necessary to maintain a standard of excellence. In its quest to improve its services, the Florence Police Department is hoping to acquire another police canine.

In May 2012, Canine Brasso retired from the Florence Police Department after sustaining a devastating spine injury. For the past several months of working without a patrol canine in the Florence area, it has become evident for the need to replace Brasso. Brasso had assisted the residents of Florence for more than seven years and was instrumental in locating a range of people from lost individuals to murder suspects.
