SNYDER—Bonita “Bonnie” Jean Snyder, 60, of Florence, passed away April 27, 2013, at home in the company of loved ones.
Born June 15, 1952, to Ina and Delbert Harmon, she grew up in Eugene and Coos Bay before graduating from Jefferson High School in Portland, Ore., and briefly moved to Arizona before returning to Oregon.
During the late 1980s, she decided to return to school, receiving an associate’s degree from Mount Hood Community College and a Bachelor of Science from Portland State University.
Bonnie went on to complete her Master of Social Work in 1993.
Taking a position with PeaceHealth as a medical social worker brought her to Florence, where she helped many people every day until she retired. She enjoyed being active in Women of the Moose and the Red Hat Society where she had many friends.
She is survived by long-time companion Kenneth Snyder; her daughter Laura Michael and son-in-law Kevin; sister Cynthia Burmester and brother-in-law Conrad; and nephew Dietrich Burmester.
A celebration of life with music and refreshments will be held at the Moose Lodge, 1108 Quince St., at 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 4.
