The Siuslaw Public Library District recently learned it has been awarded a $5,000 grant from the Jerome S. and Barbara Bischoff Library Fund of the Oregon Community Foundation (OCF).
The purpose of the grant is to help fund rebuilding the library’s large meeting room, the Bromley Room.
The project will include the purchase and installation of a 70-inch interactive “smart” board, new cabinetry, a surround-sound audio system and a DVD Blu-Ray player.
The entire cost of the project will be covered by this grant and other library funds and grants, as well as contributions from the Friends of the Library.
The project supports the mission of the Library District, which is: “In the tradition of the human ideal of freedom of thought and speech, the Siuslaw Public Library Commons strives to be a warm and inviting place of lifelong learning and human improvement, accessible to people of all ages, economic levels, and cultural backgrounds.”
The mission of the Oregon Community Foundation is “to improve life in Oregon and promote effective philanthropy.” OCF works with individuals, families, businesses and organizations to create charitable funds to support the community causes they care about. Through these funds OCF awards nearly $70 million annually in grants and scholarships. For the complete article see the 06-08-2013 issue.
