More than ‘sale’ boats

Posted: Tuesday, Jun 25th, 2013

The Port of Siuslaw and Y-Marina hosted the In-Water Boast Show on Saturday, drawing boat and marine enthusiasts to the port’s boat launch and recreation area in Old Town. In addition to hands-on displays from Siuslaw Valley Fire and Rescue (top) and Oregon Marine Construction, there were boats to test drive, RVs to tour, games, food and information about boating tours and services.

The Port of Siuslaw, in conjunction with Y-Marina and several local sponsors, hosted an In-Water Boat Show this past weekend at the Port’s waterfront facilities along the Siuslaw River on Harbor Street.

Y-Marina, based in Coos Bay, offered 14 power boats on display and for sale, ranging in size from 16 feet to 28 feet, many of which were easily accessible from slips in the port’s recreational marina.

“It was a good turnout for our first year and generated a lot of foot traffic along the boardwalk and in Old Town,” said Ken Hill, services coordinator with the port. “The response from the local business community was great, and something we hope to build on for next year.”

Three Rivers Casino and Hotel was a premier sponsor for the show, along with 17 local business sponsors.
