Florence residents will see an increase in their water utility bills next month. The increase was built into a five-year financial plan adopted in 2011, and the city’s budget committee approved the hike as part of the $2.24 million budget for 2013-14.
According to a report from Public Works Director Mike Miller, the new water rate is expected to generate $57,000 in additional revenue, which should offset the rise in costs of services for the water utility.
An increase in the wastewater rate will generate an additional $85,000, all of which is also directed to system operations and maintenance.
There will be no increase in the well rehabilitation rate. For the complete article see the 06-29-2013 issue.
