City renews marketing contract with chamber

Florence city councilors have agreed to extend a $50,000 marketing contract with the local chamber of commerce for another year.

The Florence Area Chamber of Commerce came under the gun several weeks ago when the council challenged its board of directors to document its efforts and expenditures for the city’s annual allotment to the agency to attract tourism here. Councilors sought assurance that that portion of money from transient room taxes (TRT) was being effectively managed, especially while they were searching for financial relief for the Florence Events Center.
