ARCHIBALD—David R. Archibald died Sept. 20, 2013.
He was born one of six children to Jack and Mae Archibald in Salt Lake, Mich., on Oct. 15, 1917.
He married Ruth Stockton in San Diego, where they raised their two children, Russell and Kathy. Dave had a long and successful career in aeronautics.
He participated in the manufacturing of aircraft for World War II, the Atlas missile for the space program and F16 for NATO. His career took him to San Diego, Calif.; Ft. Worth, Texas; Belgium and Turkey.
After retirement he and Ruth also lived in Florence, as well as Vancouver, Wash., and Hillsboro, Ore.
Dave and Ruth traveled extensively while living in Europe, and after retiring they continued to travel to other parts of the world and in the United States.
Dave was an accomplished woodworker and built his family’s home in Grossmont, Calif., as well as furniture and many other beautiful items. He loved to fish, camp, hike and taught his family to enjoy and appreciate nature.
Dave was a kind, loving and generous man who was devoted to his wife and family, including a large extended family.
He is survived by his wife of 71 years; two children; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and one sister.
He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
