Chief Ray Gutierrez of the Florence Police Department has announced that the department is accepting applications for ther next Citizensí Police Academy. This is the fourth year the department has hosted the program for Florence citizens. Gutierrez said that offering the academy is part of working to support the FPDís goals of transparency and accessibility to residents by offering them a behind-the-scenes look at the functions and operations of the local justice system.
The Florence Citizensí Police Academy is scheduled to begin Oct. 22 and will run for 14 sessions, every Tuesday night from 5 to 9 p.m. (excluding Christmas Eve and New Yearís Eve). For the complete article see the 10-09-2013 issue.
