Honor Flight goes as planned, despite memorial closures

Despite the government shutdown temporarily closing national memorials, three Florence veterans and other former World War II service men and women from around the country were allowed access last weekend to the monuments.

South Willamette Valley Honor Flight, a regional hub of the Honor Flight Network, transported 50 Oregon veterans to Washington, D.C., free of charge to visit memorials dedicated to them and their fellow comrades.
