Monday, Nov. 18, was the first day at work for Jim Langborg, newly hired chief of Siuslaw Valley Fire and Rescue District. In the morning, the district board presented his new badge, which Langborg’s wife, Tina, pinned on his uniform. The couple have moved to Florence from Texas. At the end of the day, the fire station hosted a reception with cake and refreshments to introduce the Langborgs. The new chief brings 20 years of experience in emergency services to the district. He replaces John Buchanan, who is retiring at the end of the year.
