Dog-lover Peggy Budd-Loa possesses enough enthusiasm for 10 people. With only a handful of volunteers she has organized an event called Bark For Life, the first held in the area.

Im passionate about this, she said.

Other communities in Oregon and across the nation have held Bark For Life events. Associated with Relay For Life, Bark benefits the American Cancer Society, too, but also gives dog owners the opportunity to involve their canine buddies.

Set for June 14 at Miller Park, rain or shine, Bark For Life opens at 11 a.m. and closes at 1 p.m. Activities include opening and closing ceremonies, an honorary lap around the track, demonstrations, contests, games, food, vendor booths, a silent auction and music.
