The Willamette Valley was covered with a dreary layer of fog, the coast was sunny and the entertainment top-notch, all leading to a successful 2014 Winter Folk Festival at the Florence Events Center.

Maire Testa, co-chair of the event with Hal Weiner, said that at last count more than 1,800 visitors, possibly a record, had attended the two-day festival, which included continuous live folk music, an artisan craft fair and headline performances by The Brothers Four and John McEuen of the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band.

“The stars were in alignment. The weather was perfect, so people came here to escape the fog. Our artisan fair was outrageous and the performances were first rate, which made for a wonderful event,” Testa said.
