City measures progress through goal-setting process

Each year Florence City Council holds a special work session to review and assess the past year’s goals and to hammer out the coming year’s goals.

The exercise is critical in outlining the projects the city can undertake, since new concerns constantly are cropping up. Building such a framework does not preclude tackling other issues, but it does remind everyone how the funds are pegged for the year, where the money and the manpower will be needed. The system also helps the city and its officials track their accomplishments and expenditures.

Earlier this month both lists were presented and approved during the year’s first council meeting.
