CEO Rick Yecny, Facilities Director Pat Kirby and Lane County Commissioner Jay Bozievich tour the new central utility plant for PeaceHealth Peace Harbor Medical Center.

PeaceHealth Peace Harbor Medical Center unveiled its almost-completed $5 million central utility plant Thursday with a tour led by Facilities Director Pat Kirby. The project, scheduled for completion in early April, provides triple the space to hold new state-of-the-art, energy-efficient equipment.

Construction has added 1,800 square feet, which is connected to the original 900-square-foot mechanical room.

“This gives us more room so we can service all of our equipment properly,” Kirby said, adding that the new plant is built to accommodate future expansion.

The plant was a long time coming. Most of the equipment dated to 1989, the year the hospital was constructed. It was compressed into the small mechanical room, making it difficult to perform even routine maintenance.
