Museum strives to digitize historical assets

Posted: Tuesday, Mar 11th, 2014

Mark Brennan, special project coordinator and assistant librarian for the Siuslaw Pioneer Museum, is digitizing the photos and records in the museum’s research library.
A couple of modest grants will be going a long way toward preserving the valuable archives of the Siuslaw Pioneer Museum.

A spokesman for the museum announced last month that Lane County Historical Society selected the Florence museum as a recipient of its annual Heritage Grant, in the amount of $2,500.

All the funds will be used to buy archival supplies and computer equipment.

“We have box after box after box of photographs; we have disk after disk after disk that are not collated or organized in any fashion,” said the museum’s special project coordinator and assistant librarian Mark Brennan.
