A public forum held in Florence in 2012 discussed potential changes in mental health service delivery. The main providers of care locally, PeaceHealth and Options Counseling, in addition to Lane County Behavioral Health Services, led the the discussion. Two years later, there is better access to care for most patients, but there is still room for improvement.
Since 2012, PeaceHealth closed its 12th Street office, which held PeaceHealth Counseling Services, and shifted its behavioral health team to the organizationís primary care clinics. Therapist time is divided between one-on-one counseling (in the 340 building on campus) and providing services as part of the primary care team. Two full-time therapists (there was 1.4 FTE in 2012), and additional drug and alcohol counselors have been added to the team. For the complete article see the 04-16-2014 issue.
