Siuslaw School District budget outlook brighter

The Siuslaw School Board held its annual budget meeting as a part of a monthly board meeting at the Siuslaw Elementary School library April 9.

The mood was considerably more buoyant than previous years’ budget meetings, when board members struggled with cutbacks in state and federal funding, as well as declining enrollment.

Three critical elements helped stabilize the 2014-2015 school budget: an uptick in state funding, increased enrollment and voter approval of a five-year $1 million action levy.
