Western Lane Community Foundation Foundation celebrates 40 years of giving

Looking back 40 years to the humble beginnings of the Western Lane Community Foundation (WLCF), few present then would have imagined how far that dream has flown.

In 1974, $3,368.49 in seed money donated by the Florence Rotary Club launched the foundation. That has grown into an asset base of just over $5.1 million, returning more than $1 million to the Florence area in the form of grants, endowments and scholarships in just the last five years.

Current and past board members and staff sat down to discuss the growth of WLCF, and give some insight into the workings of this non-profit charitable organization.
