Bozievich avoids runoff after close primary

Posted: Tuesday, Jun 10th, 2014

Jay Bozievich

West Lane County Commissioner Jay Bozievich emerged the victor in the May 20 Primary Election, defeating challenger Dawn Lesley by just 75 votes, according to the official final results released Friday from the Lane County Elections Office.

Bozievich received a total of 7,708 votes, or 50.12 percent, enough to meet the 50-percent-plus-one vote criteria to avoid a runoff. He will be the sole contender for the four-year position on the Nov. 4 General Election ballot.

I would like to congratulate Dawn for a hard fought, extended race. I applaud her dedication, Bozievich said in a statement. I am honored once again by the opportunity to tackle the future challenges at Lane County. Thank you, West Lane voters.
