The Florence Community PTA reported this week that the group has awarded more than $13,140 in grants and project support to teachers and staff in the Siuslaw schools during the 2013-14 year. This dollar amount is in addition to gifts of back-to-school baskets for staff and teacher and staff appreciation week, and hosting a staff seminar on bullying awareness.

Each month, a PTA committee, which consists of a staff person, teacher, parent and community member review grant applications submitted by Siuslaw’s teachers, administrators or staff for various classes or programs. A grant may be up to $250. The PTA also awards project gifts when the funding need is greater. PTA thanks this year’s committee for its time and consideration of the many applications received.
