Florence City Council could see at least three new faces on the dais next year following the resignation of councilor Joe Henry, who will instead run for mayor in the November election against incumbent Nola Xavier.
Henry filed the preliminary paperwork last week to be placed on the ballot as a candidate for Florence mayor, currently held by Xavier. As required by the city charter, he has resigned from his councilor position effective Dec. 31.
Four spots on the council are now up for grabs, the mayoral position and three councilor seats, all of which will by chosen by voters in the Nov. 4 General Election. For the complete article see the 07-16-2014 issue.
