Local author releases new book ‘Native Nations’

Posted: Tuesday, Jul 15th, 2014

Florence resident and author Steve Talbot announced the release of his latest book, “Native Nations of North America,” published by Pearson/Prentice Hall.

Talbot and his wife Mariechen moved to Florence from California in 1999.

“I convinced my wife that we should retire in beautiful Oregon,” he said.

At that time, Talbot began teaching sociology and American Indian courses at both Oregon State University and Lane Community College Florence Center.

Talbot has spent his entire adult life studying, working with and writing about Native Americans. He began in the 1950s in Mexico, then, later, as a state social worker for the Tohono O’Odahm tribe in Arizona.
