Citizens, forest service partner to save Knowles campground

A local citizens group, Save Archie, has put together a partnership with the hope of unlocking Archie Knowles Campground, east of Mapleton, which was locked up without notice four years ago by the Siuslaw National Forest Service. West Lane County Commissioner Jay Bozievich also hopes the forest service, the Save Archie group and Lane County can work together to unlock the campground.

“If the forest service wants to work with us, we are confident that we can work to secure grants to get the campground back to working condition,” said Commissioner Bozievich.
