The City of Florence Public Works Department will be doing some road work on Oak Street starting next week.
Chip and fog seal work will require the closure of Oak Street from 20th to 35th streets during the week of July 28 through Aug. 1.
The project consists of a single layer chip seal, which is an application of emulsified asphalt and a layer of fine aggregate. The aggregate is then rolled to embed it into the emulsified asphalt. This is used as a pavement preservation treatment and provides a new skid-resistant surface, arrests ravelin and seals minor cracks. Once the chip seal is set, a fog seal is applied. For the complete article see the 07-26-2014 issue.
