A safety project is scheduled to begin next week to install centerline rumble strips on segments of OR 126W (Florence-Eugene Highway) between Mapleton and Walton, and better highway striping and reflective markers.
The project is part of a larger safety initiative to reduce roadway departure crashes such as head-on, crossover and fixed object crashes.
Work on Highway 126W is set to begin Monday, Aug. 4, and continue for two to three days. Work will be conducted during daytime hours, 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.
The ODOT contractor will grind rumble strips and depressions for the pavement markers, apply a sealant to the roadway, and install the reflective markers. The contractor will return later, after the sealant cures, to install new highway striping. For the complete article see the 08-02-2014 issue.
