Former assistant to lead first all-girls team

May 21, 2022 — Amy Tregoning was named head coach of the all-girls varsity soccer team at Siuslaw High. The team will make its debut next year.

Tregoning was an assistant on the Siuslaw varsity boys team last fall. She is also a science teacher at Siuslaw Middle School.

“That’s awesome,” said local parent Erin Linton when she heard the news. “The girls team is in good hands with Amy as the coach.”

Starting in the 2022-23 school year, Siuslaw will have both a boys and girls soccer team. The girls team will compete in the 3A/2A/1A District 3 with Central Linn, Santiam Christian, Creswell, Pleasant Hill, Sisters, Elmira and La Pine. Their first game is tentatively scheduled for August 25.

Siuslaw has a few openings within their athletic programs. The high school needs a head softball coach, a head volleyball coach and an assistant football coach. Siuslaw Middle School needs a head volleyball coach, head girls basketball coach and head wrestling coach and an assistant football coach.
