Area Youth chosen for South Coast All-Stars

Five Florence baseball players headed to state
July 8, 2022 — After a very successful season where the Florence 7th and 8th grade baseball teams went a combined 23-1 over the spring and summer seasons, five players have been selected for the South Coast All-Star baseball team.
Collin Barnett, Micah Blankenship, Jacob Mann, Zak Nilles and Jordan Pitcher will join players from Coos Bay, North Bend, Coquille, Myrtle Point, Reedsport and Bandon on the South Coast All-Star team. Florence coaches Mike Blankenship and Michael Pitcher were also named coaches of the all-star team.
These five ballplayers from Florence and their teammates will travel to Roseburg the weekend of July 15-17 to compete in the state tournament in Roseburg. If successful their next stop would be regionals at Ferndale, Wash. with the eventual goal of qualifying for the Little League World Series for their division in Williston, N.D.
These athletes need the community’s help.
"Postseason baseball creates long-lasting memories for everyone involved however there are also fees for uniforms, travel and entry into tournaments,” said the South Coast Babe Ruth (SCBR) Board in a letter to the community. “Your generous sponsorship dollars provide opportunity for children to continue learning the game of baseball and understand the value of teamwork.”
SCBR is 501(c) (3) under IRS code. Non-Profit Tax ID #93-0724103. Make checks payable to South Coast Babe Ruth and mail to P.O. Box 1422, North Bend, OR 97459.
