Dunes City announces passing of Mayor Robert Forsythe

Feb. 8, 2022 — DUNES CITY—It is with heavy hearts that the City of Dunes City confirms that Mayor Robert Forsythe passed away on Feb. 7, 2022.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with his wife Cindy and their family,” said Dunes City Administrator Jamie Mills. “We are thankful for the outpouring of support that our city has received since Mayor Forsythe’s passing. We are in contact with his family and will make sure we pass on the condolences.”

Council President Sheldon Meyer said, “To honor the family, the city will continue functioning in the manner that Mayor Forsythe would have wanted. I am ready to assume the mayoral duties to make sure his legacy continues.”

In honor of Mayor Forsythe, Dunes City will lower the flags at Dunes City Hall beginning immediately through the end of February. Additionally, the next meeting of the Dunes City Council, scheduled for Feb. 16, will be cancelled.

Forsythe was elected to continue serving as mayor in both 2018 and 2020.

“We thank Mayor Forsythe for his over five years of service to the citizens of Dunes City,” Mills said.

Per the City Charter of Dunes City, Council President Sheldon Meyer will assume the duties of mayor until the Dunes City Council takes action.
