Wear green, drive sober

March 17, 2023 — Tonight is Saint Patrick’s Day, a day that is among the deadliest of holidays involving drunk driving and alcohol-involved crashes. Data shows that DUIIs, alcohol violations, and alcohol-involved crashes spike on this holiday nationwide, especially when those holidays fall on a weekend like this one.

These facts in mind, the Florence Police Department and other local agencies will be participating in extra DUII enforcement tonight, March 17. Please remember that if you drive under the influence of alcohol, it is not just yourself that you put at risk.

“Please help Florence to be a safe place to celebrate this St. Patrick’s Day,” said the FPD in a news release. “If you have been drinking, don’t get behind the wheel.”
