Siuslaw holds second Color-a-Thon

Oct. 26, 2018 — Mark your calendars and get ready to get colorful on Nov. 3 as the “Color-a-Thon 5k Run and Walk” kicks off in support of Siuslaw Schools. This unique event invites participants to complete a 5K (or less) course, starting from Siuslaw Middle School, as they are doused in colorful powder. “You’ll come off the course looking like you’ve had a whole bunch of fun,” said Crystal Osburn, who works at Siuslaw Elementary School and is heading up organization of this year’s event.
Over the next couple of weeks, Siuslaw school students will be working to collect donations and earn prizes - like sunglasses and wacky wigs - to wear during the event. In the meantime, organizers are also seeking participants from the community and business sponsors to help meet their $15,000 fundraising goal.
“Everyone is welcome to come out and participate in the Color-a-Thon,” said Osburn. “Rain or shine, this is a great time to get out and support a great cause.”

Registration forms for parents & community members will be available at Siuslaw Elementary School or Coastal Fitness. Pre-registration including an event t-shirt is available until October 19th for $25, or participants may register the morning of the event, starting at 8 am on November 3rd, for $30.

All donations are tax deductible and will go towards providing funding for items and experiences that help keep kids engaged and excited about school at the elementary, middle and high schools in Florence.

Osburn encourages residents in Florence and the surrounding areas to come out and participate in the Color-a-Thon, “Our kids are the heart of our community and we’re excited to show them how much we care about their success at school — and have a whole lot of fun.”
