Rhody show at FEC this weekend

April 13, 2023 — “Earth laughs in flowers,” so wrote Emerson and, for our beautiful hamlet, the grins are just beginning.

As we scan our gardens, the prospect of finding that elusive, award winning, ‘perfect truss’ looms large and to that end the Siuslaw Chapter of the American Rhododendron Society would like to invite you to the first of our annual shows on April 15-16 at the Florence Events Center, 715 Quince Street.

Our members are anxious to share their knowledge about the genus Rhododendron and invite the public to participate in our meetings and shows. If you wish to enter a truss (flower) we will be happy to guide you through the process.

Doors are open on Saturday, April 15 from 7 a.m. until 9 a.m. for entrees.

Plant sale is 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. both Saturday and Sunday, The flower show is 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. Admission is free.

Our next meeting is April 20 at the Presbyterian Church of the Siuslaw at 3996 Highway 101. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the program will start at 7 p.m..

Besides having an early show, we have a late show held in May in conjunction with the Rhododendron Festival on the 20th and 21st. Each event has a plant sale, affording the public the opportunity to purchase many hard-to-find varieties.
