May 25, 2022 — Habitat for Humanity’s 43rd Annual Rhody Run went off without a hitch on Saturday, May 21. 259 runners and walkers entered the 5k and 10k races and 242 finished. Winners were: 5k Male — Brayden Linton, 16, Florence; 5k Female — Alison Hughes, 14, Florence; 10k Male — Joshua Kulmac-Butler, 37, Florence; 10k Female — Heather Parker, 33, Florence.

Linton is already a Rhody Run veteran.

“I’ve been running the race since I was like 12,” he said. “Track and cross country practice were the only preparation I needed.”

Unlike Linton, Kulmac-Butler, the winner of the men’s 10K, was running his first Rhody Run. This wasn’t his first road race, though the past two years had slowed him down a bit.

“Pre-pandemic I was running races with some frequency,” he said. “I haven’t run one for a couple of years, though, besides one I recently ran as a pacer with my wife. I prepared with easy miles. I try and get in the mountains a lot. I do a lot of rock climbing, mountaineering and hiking so that helps."
